APC Gives Update On Buhari’s Health, Debunks Fayose’s Claim That He’s On Life Support
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is fast recovering from his illness, contrary to allegations that he is on life support.
The statement was made by the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, in Abuja while speaking with journalists at the end of a meeting between the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and state governors elected on the party’s platform.
His words: “We are glad to inform you that President Muhammadu Buhari is recovering in a very robust manner.
“We hope he takes it easy and when he comes back, I have no doubt at all that we will have a new and active period of activities.’’
The chairman of the ruling party further added that only the president’s doctors abroad could decide when he would be fit to return to the country.
It would be recalled, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State had recently alleged that President Buhari was on life-support in a London Hospital where he is receiving medical attention.
However, the national chairman refused to respond to the governor’s comment, saying he would do that at an appropriate time.
“If I respond, I will be dignifying him,” he said.
“At the appropriate time, people will answer him; at the appropriate level; at the appropriate time.
“He is in a different world altogether.’’
Also on Thursday, Oyegun had during a Channels TV programme maintained that the president is not on “life support” as claimed by Fayose.
He described Fayose’s comments as “most unfortunate.”
“That is the governor of Ekiti state when he talks you just discount it and move on,” he said, adding that “We are not his doctors but the reports we have are very good.
“It [Fayose’s comments] is a most unfortunate thing. It is not ideal. Nobody wishes that on himself or on a nation but he is recovering very strongly.”
