LAGOS—An unidentified middleaged guy kidnapped a 10-year-old boy, who was once on an errand for his mom, and exchanged him for 3 baggage of rice in Ijegun house of Lagos.
The suspect, now at the run, reportedly accosted the sufferer (names withheld), weekend, at Prince Bus Stop, Isheri Oshun, whilst at the errand for his mom.
He was once stated to have offered himself to the unsuspecting boy as a relative.
In an obvious transfer to persuade the boy, the stranger, adopted him to the store the place he was once despatched to shop for a bottle of groundnut oil and thereafter, took him to a store the place he gathered 3 baggage of rice.
He satisfied the salesgirl, recognized merely as Deborah, that he was once going to get the cash, whilst his brother remained together with her.
However, that was once to not be because the salesgirl waited without end with out seeing the stranger or the cash for the luggage of rice, which totalled N48,000.
The transaction
Speaking with Vanguard, the salesgirl stated: “ When the person got here to the store with the boy, he requested how a lot was once a bag of rice. I instructed him it was once N16,000 and he left with the boy, pronouncing he was once going to inform the girl that despatched them.
“Moments later, he got here again and stated that he wanted two baggage. Again, he referred to as the purported individual that despatched them on telephone and steered that they must upload yet another bag.
“After the decision, he instructed me to lend a hand him get a tricycle that may put across the 3 baggage of rice to Fire Junction, the place he claimed the landlord was once. He stated the boy will stay with me whilst he went to get the cash.
“After looking ahead to on the subject of one hour with out seeing him, I instructed the boy to take me to his mum’s store on the stated Fire Junction.
“But he stated that his mom didn’t personal a store there and that the stranger best met him at the street and taken him to the store.
“It was at that point that I knew I had been robbed. I alerted my neighbour, who said that the stranger must have used the boy as exchange for the bags of rice.”
Meanwhile, apprehension had set in on the boy’s space after his disturbed mom visited the store, best to be told that his son had left with a stranger.
While a seek birthday party was once combing the neighborhood for the boy, the landlord of the store and the salesgirl, had been sighted taking him to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division.
During interrogation, the boy instructed his folks: “After getting back from the store, the stranger requested if I knew the place they promote baggage of rice. I instructed him they had been promoting on the subject of our space.
“But he stated he didn’t wish to purchase there that I must practice him to shop for in different places.
“I followed him because he introduced himself as my cousin. He collected the money I had with me to pay for the fare and told me to wait at the shop, that he would come and take me back home after dropping the bags of rice.”
The Police, then again, launched him to his folks similar day with a directive to report to the station the day before today, the place a gathering between the boy’s folks and proprietor of the store who insisted on getting the cash for the luggage of rice.
