Akinwumi Adesina Wins 2017 World Food Prize Laureate


The President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has been named the 2017 World Food Prize Laureate.

Adesina, whose title used to be decided on on Monday in Washington, D.C, turns into the 46th recipient and the 6th African to be honoured.

The award rite will happen October 19.

Announcing the brand new Laureate, Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, the President of the World Food Prize Foundation, described Adesina as “any person who grew out of poverty, however whose lifestyles project is to raise up thousands and thousands of other people out of poverty’’.

The announcement through Quinn used to be made at a rite held at the USA division of agriculture, which used to be attended through US secretary of agriculture Sonny Perdue.
