Editorials: Top 8 Rappers Who Came From The North

Northern rappers are rare to come across in the music scene. The Hausa tribe race is known for its never-ceasing hustle in every facet of their life.

Today, Naijaexclusive is recognizing some relentless Hausa indigenous rappers who have done a great job by putting themselves on the Nigerian music map. Please note that this list is in no order.

1. Magnito

Magnito the lyrical titan is known for his dynamic rap style. Born Mohammed Adamu but well known by his stage name Magnito came up with a unique style of displaying his rap skills by using his Instagram page. Always released in episodes, “Relationship be like” is a minute video that features rap stars and other singers like Ycee, Yung6ix, Larrygaga and other artistes.

2. Ice Prince

Musical icon, Ice Prince Zamani is one of the northern rappers. Born Panshak Zamani, a very fashionable Jos born singer has recorded massively when it comes to success in his musical career. He currently owns his record label (Super Cool Cats) after he departed Chocolate city Music.

3. ClassiQ

Buba Barnabas Luka, better known by his stage name ClassiQ is one talented rapper and a sick lyricist who hails from . The 27-year old is known for his energetic verse on Vector’s King Kong after spiting bars on the track he got featured.

4. MI Abaga

Jude Abaga is one of the most famous Nigerian musicians in the African continent. The versatile Nigerian rapper is known for his great contribution to the Nigerian music in general. Jude Abaga helped a lot of musicians like Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz grow in their career using the label “Chocolate City Music” and also wining a lot of international awards. 

5. Kheengz

A graduate of Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kheengz is Known for the ability to communicate well with his rap styles despite his Hausa rap style. Putting himself on the music radar was something very easy for Kheengz to do. The talented rapper is a Minna  based with a huge fan base throughout the whole of the northern states.

6. Jesse Jagz

Jesse Abaga, the younger brother to the popular Mister Incredible, Jude Abaga. The 34 year old is an embodiment of talent taking the seat after his elder brother. He currently owns a label “Jagz Nation” after he departed “Chocolate City Music”.

7. Lyrical Dr Smith

Lyrical Dr Smith, born Simon Bulus isn’t a kid in the rap scene. The versatile lyricist is an indigene of Plateau State. He is also an On Air Personality with Unity FM 93.3 Jos.

8. Morell

Musa Akilah, well known as Morell is a multi-award winning Northern rapper and singer who rose to prominence after dropping “anti social” a singlewhich featured Olamide. He has released so many singles which aided his movement on the Nigerian map.
