Editorials: 10 Buzzing Nigerian Artistes Who Downgraded To Upcoming Acts

To make it in the Nigerian music industry is an unplayful task, to remain pertinent and become consistent is another difficult task entirely on its own. Musicians who create consistency of excellence year-in-year-out are deserved to be called protagonists in the musical scene.

This post is not to ridicule the musical efforts of any artiste, it’s just to call our attention to the fact that some artistes who shook the industry over the years couldn’t keep up till now.

On this ground, they are described as upcoming is because they don’t catch our attention any longer. Two; it’s been a long while since they had a hit song either as a featured artiste or an individual effort.

Checkout The 10 Buzzing Nigerian Artistes Who Downgraded To Upcoming Acts:

1. Kcee

Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, aka Kcee the ‘Limpopo’ crooner, has not been relevant for the past few years. As a matter of fact, nobody compliments ‘Limpopo’ again, only if can cook another electrifying track that feeds his fans and lovers again. This might boost the dying love the fans have for the singer.

 2. May D

Once upon a time ‘Everybody loved May D but at the moment fans have grown cold on the ‘Sound Track’ crooner. May D has been the center of jokes and ridicule on social media with a lot of folks bluntly referring to him as an upcoming artiste in spite of his hit tracks.

3. Chidinma

It’s hard to say if Chidinma is on a self imposed hiatus or she is done with music. The multiple award winning songstress has seemingly fazed out of music scene with casual appearance here and there. Gone are the days she gives hot tracks, she now finds it difficult to prove what she was.

4. Ice Prince

Ice Prince who have been one of Nigerians favorite rappers made it to our list. The ‘Aboki’ crooner has been lashed several times due to his inability to remain consistent. Although, the rap game is such a difficult one to play on. Iceprince who remains Nigerian most streamed rapper according to Spotify has not been able to hold on to this achievement as his latest track ‘Yawa’ which features DMW act, Peruzzi is a cold one the fans least expected.

 5. Eva Alordiah

Popular and promising female rapper, Eva Alordiah has turned vlogger! This is to cement the claim that she is not more consistent as she has been seen making Youtube videos more. Unlike before, the rapper hasn’t been making headlines. She lost her sauce too early.

 6. Jaywon

After releasing one of Nigerian biggest hits of 2012 titled ‘This year’ also ‘Madantin Remix’ which he collaborated with Olamide, Phyno and May D in 2014, Jaywon’s mic power has gone missing. He cameback last year with ‘Saro’, it was a good one but wasn’t what we expected.

7.    D’Prince

Remember the guy behind the massive hit, ‘Take Banana’  in the year 2012? The blood brother to The Mavin frontier is suffering the same faith as Jaywon but the only difference is that, D’prince has not made any tangible effort in terms of dropping a single to compliment his dying fame in 2015. All we got was ‘Gucci Gang’ in 2018.

8.    Brymo

Brymo was arguably the vocal powerhouse of Chocolate City after he released his blustering single ‘Ara’ under the label. It is funny to see Brymo struggle to get a hit song even though he released an album which later became the talk of the nation.

9.    Sean Tizzle

2013 was a fulfilled year for Sean Tizzle as ‘Sho Lee’ turned out to be one of the biggest songs in 2013. Over the years, Sean Tizzle is totally off the radar as most of his songs this year didn’t even make it to limelight.

10   . Vector

Vector Tha Viper aka Son of Lafiaji was one of Nigeria’s active rappers who never cease to drop a dope rap track. Right now it’s a different case, and this is because the rapper finds it difficult to energize his fans with punchlines like before.
