Wendy Williams Says Cardi B Should Not Have Accepted Engagement From Offset
During Friday night’s Power 99’s Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia, Offset got down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend, Cardi B. She said yes, and now the two are set to tie the knot with BET interested in turning the big day into a segment, just as the network did for Gucci Mane’s wedding.
On the latest episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the rapper’s engagement was a hot topic where Wendy calls Offset the Kelly of the Migos group – in relation to Kelly Rowland’s status in Destiny’s Child. “I’m trying to draw the picture for you all, right,’ she says in the clip. “But he’s a Kelly, and now that he’s engaged to Cardi B, he’s all of a sudden kind of elevated his social status to something different. Her career is on fire right now, all the more reason not to accept the ring.”
“[She’s] 25-years-old, Cardi came from nothing; bought herself some new teeth; she’s got a really good career right now! And, my thought is, there’s a whole lot that goes into staying exactly where you are Cardi, or getting better, because you’re going to get endorsements… things are about to happen and this is not the time to be stalled with a guy you’ve only known for eight months,” she further tells the audience, according to The Hollywood Life. “Even accepting the ring is accepting things to happen … it doesn’t mean they have to get married now, but the proposal is the drum roll. No one has time to wait for a 5-year engagement.”
Cardi B has yet to respond to Wendy’s opinion on the matter and who knows if she’ll even take the time, considering the bliss she’s in right now.
