Owoseni Bows Out As Imohimi Emerges Lagos Police Commissioner
The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday announced a change of guard as Commissioner of Police – with Fatai Owoseni, handing over to a new Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi.
Imohimi is expected to assume duty as the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos State on Friday, September 1, spokesman for the Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, has said.
Mr. Imohimi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, assumed office following his confirmation as the new police commissioner in Lagos State by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
“Edgal Imohimi has taken over and assumed duty in an official capacity as the new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, with immediate effect.
“Formal handing and taking over notes is going on smoothly between the former and the new Lagos State CP.”
“CP Fatai Owoseni wished the officers and men of the command all the best under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Ag/COMPOL Edgal Imohimi, at the officers’ mess during a conference of senior officers, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Head of Departments,” Mr. Famous-Cole said in a statement.
On Wednesday, controversies had trailed the appointment of Imohimi as Owoseni’s successor, as the former CP had maintained that he was still in charge of the command.
Until his appointment as Lagos police commissioner, Mr. Imohimi was Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in Lagos State.
