Gareth Barry To Celebrate Milestone Only If West Brom Wins

Gareth Barry will be making his all-time leading appearance on Monday, when West Brom play Arsenal on Monday, but he won’t be celebrating it unless they get a win.

Barry matched Giggs record appearance of 632, last weekend in the goalless draw against West Ham.

The 36-year-old said the record is something he is proud of and never imagined when he made his debut for Aston Villa at 17, but will not be celebrating it if they don’t get the point against Arsenal on Monday.

“The number I’ll achieve is an individual one. Football is a team game,” he told a media conference.

“My family will be at the game but there won’t be a smile on my face after anything other than a positive result!

“As crazy as it sounds after all these years, my focus will be on winning the game.”
